What is Klaaswood® Thermally Modified Wood?
Klaaswood® combines innovation, aesthetic beauty, and sustainability to create Thermally Modified Wood that is exceptionally durable and versatile. Made from domestic Pine, Klaaswood® is the premier choice for beautiful decking and siding projects. Due to its modification process, Klaaswood® is moisture and weather resistant and is especially suited for exterior applications. Klaaswood® lumber is sustainably sourced, harvested, and modified in the USA.
Klaaswood® uses a proprietary 2nd generation Hydrolysis modification process. Here, raw lumber is placed under high pressure and heat, increasing strength, durability, and environmental resistance. Using Hydrolysis, Klaaswood® produces modified wood with a Class 1 Durability rating without the need for harmful chemical additives. This modification technique consumes less energy and takes less time than older 1st generation techniques, bringing thermally modified wood into a new era of efficiency and sustainability.
